Biography

Dennis began his legal career in 1980 after graduating from SMU Dedman School of Law in the spring of 1980 and passing the Texas Bar Exam in the summer of 1980. Starting as an associate attorney he immediately embarked upon an active trial practice that spanned the practice areas of General Civil Trial Law (business disputes; disputes involving 501C3 nonprofits; damage suits), Family Law, Probate, Worker’s Compensation, and Criminal Law.

In 1985, Dennis obtained his certification by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in the field of Family Law, a certification he has continuously maintained since inception.

In 1991, Dennis formed his professional corporation which operates today as the law firm of Brewer, Jackson & Lang, P.C. Since the formation of his firm, Dennis has been the majority shareholder and he managed the firm up until taking his current position with Fellowship Church and Fellowship Connection in 2008. During the time period from 1991 through 2007 and early 2008, Dennis maintained an active domestic and civil trial practice focused on complex legal disputes while overseeing select civil cases in the firm’s other practice areas. The firm maintained and grew an international as well as a strong national practice representing churches, ministries, and clergy.

During the early years of his practice, Dennis acquired and continuously maintained an ‘AV’ rating by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating given, which is based upon confidential survey responses of attorneys and judges (A = preeminent attorney; V = very high general ethical standards). Dennis has received the distinction of being named a “Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly Magazine ten years consecutively, beginning in 2004. Dennis is a member of the Texas Bar Association and is a former President of the Irving Bar Association. He served as a Master of the Bench in the Annette Stewart American Inn of Court beginning at this Inn’s inception. He is a charter member of The Collaborative Law Institute of Texas.

While managing his firm and law practice, Dennis remained active in his community, including serving as a Director on the Board of Independent National Bank, a community bank with multiple locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex; serving as a Director on the Board of his Home Owner’s Association; and serving as a Director on the Board of Fellowship Church which he and his family joined as members in 1992. Shortly after joining Fellowship Church, Dennis and his firm began providing legal counsel to Fellowship Church which has continued over the past 23 years through the present.

In the spring of 2008 Dennis became a full time employee of Fellowship Church and Fellowship Connection. He has held the same positions and has had essentially the same duties and responsibilities from inception of full time employment through the present except for his duties as a pastor which increased somewhat upon his becoming ordained. Dennis received his license in ministry in 2007 and was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 2011.

Dennis and his wife, Sueda, live in Irving, TX where they have maintained their residence for over 35 years. They have two daughters, Alexandra and McKenzie, and a son-in-law, Andrew. Dennis currently serves as a Director and an Officer of America’s Mighty Warriors, a 501C3 organization that assists Gold Star families, serves veterans and their families, and advocates for members of the U.S. military. Dennis also serves on the Board of Directors and as an Officer of Fellowship Church London, a private charitable organization incorporated under the laws of England/Wales.
